About Me

About Me

My name is Natasha and thank you in advance for taking the time to read my profile.

I am an integrative psychotherapist/counsellor and Shooting Star Counselling is my private practice.

My training has included a BSC Hons Psychology and Counselling, Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling Skills, a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a Masters in Integrative counselling, the latter allowing me to develop an advanced approach to working with loss and bereavement.

I am a registered accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I am currently waiting to begin my couple's and sex therapy diploma in order to extend my services to couples and allow me to specialise in sex therapy and sexual issues.

I am also independently registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), this is an independent body who ensures that I am GDPR and Data Protection compliant.

I am ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) trained and I am certified in Counselling Children and Young People (CPCAB).

My Model & Approaches

I work to provide a flexible and fluid blend of Person-Centred, Humanistic, Relational Psychodynamics, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Gestalt approaches in my work, as well as creative and visual methods to aid in reflection, expression and meaning-making. I work to create a tailor-made approach to each of my clients, endeavouring to discover their therapeutic language and work in a custom framework depending on the client’s individuality and needs.

I treasure the therapeutic alliance between the client and counsellor; I believe that without this, therapy is not possible. I aim to deliver a wide range of approaches, using a multitude of theories to expand my knowledge, leaving me with a flexible skill-set that can be adapted and tailored to the client.

I endeavour to be flexible and adaptable, as well as empathetic, understanding, open-minded, non-judgemental and honest. I strive to provide people with a gentle, warm, friendly and relaxed environment, where they can feel safe to talk, open up and be vulnerable. I work to motivate and challenge my clients to be the best they can be for themselves and become self-aware, self-loving and to encourage self-care. I want to walk alongside people in their journey of exploration, self-discovery, self-reflection and help them to feel heard, understood and supported, no matter how hard things get.

I work to promote change and help my clients find understanding, acceptance and equip them with the tools they need to make positive changes that will enhance their wellbeing, build self-esteem and a way to love themselves for exactly who they are as a person. I welcome individuals from all walks of life and would love to share in your very real experience and get to hear your story; I believe everyone’s story should have an open, empathetic and understanding ear to share with.

I pride myself on being down to earth and valuing people’s independence, their personalities and their differences and work to continually promote these. I work to promote the value that every client should have the space and opportunity to build on their self-worth/esteem/confidence, to feel more whole and value themselves, to be able to recognise, own and promote their own strengths and qualities. Everyone is capable of loving someone, even when they don’t love themselves; the question is, why shouldn’t we love us too?
